Ayurdham is the place for people to get Ayurvedic consultations to improve health and well-being.
Ayurveda is a holistic healing science, which comprises of two words, Ayu and Veda. Ayu means life and Veda means knowledge, or science. So, the literal meaning of the word Ayurveda is the science of life. Ayurveda is a science dealing not only with treatment of some diseases but is a complete way of life. This becomes clear when we see the meaning of life.
As mentioned above Ayurveda is a science of life so, to know more about it, we must know what is life? Life according to Ayurveda is a combination of senses, mind, body and soul. It is clear from this definition of life that Ayurveda is not only limited to body, or physical symptoms but also gives a comprehensive knowledge about spiritual, mental and social health. It is a holistic science, looking at all things, which make for a wholesome life, where life means the body, mind and spirit.
Ayurveda says:
"Swasthasya swasthya rakshanam, aturasya vikar prashmanam."
The first part of Ayurveda is considering all of the techniques and also advice the life styles to prevent health for healthy people for living long lasting. So Ayurveda is not only a science of medicine for a sick people but also a science of life for healthy and long living, for those people, whom are already healthy.
Ayurveda is not a treatment; it is a way of life.In Ayurveda, treatment means removing the root cause. The treatment mainly comprises of powders, tablets, decoctions, medicated oils etc. prepared from natural herbs, plants and minerals.Along with medicine, proper diet and living style is also advised. This is equally important.Ayurveda helps us in understanding each individual at a very subtle personal level and giving a detailed description about diet, daily routine, life-style, actions and activities to be followed.

When any of the doshas accumulate in the body beyond the desirable limit, the body loses its balance. Every individual has a distinct balance, and our health and well-being depend on getting a right balance of the three doshas ("tridoshas"). Ayurveda suggests specific lifestyle and nutritional guidelines to help individuals reduce the excess dosha.
"SAMA DOSHA SAMA AGNISCHA SAMA DHATU MALA KRIYAH
PRASANNA ATMA INDRIYA MANAH SWASTHA ITI ABHIDEYATE"
A healthy person, as defined in Sushrut Samhita, one of the primary works on Ayurveda, is "he whose doshas are in balance, appetite is good, all tissues of the body and all natural urges are functioning properly, and whose mind, body and spirit are cheerful..."
Health is not merely a freedom from diseases A person is healthy only when his mind, body, sense organs & soul are in the state of perfect equilibrium.
The three doshas, or bio-energies found in our body are:
Vata - pertains to Air and Ether Elements. This energy is generally seen as a force which directs nerve impulses, circulation, respiration and elimination.
Pitta - pertains to Fire and Water elements. This dosha governs metabolism e.g. transformation of foods into nutrients. It is also responsible for metabolism in organ and tissue systems.
Kapha - pertains to Water and Earth elements. It is responsible for growth and protection. The mucousal lining of stomach and celebral-spinal fluid that protects brain and spinal column are examples of Kapha.
